Backpacking Trips in the Other Destinations
Appalachian Trail (AT) Backpack & Hike Trip -
April 17-21, 2017
Join us for 5 days of spring hiking and backpacking in the central section of Shenandoah National Park. The trek is planned along a section of the Blue Ridge
crest on the Appalachian Trail between Swift Run Gap and Thornton Gap. The "off season" is a good time of year for this trip which meanders through the most
widely used part of the Park. This is a very scenic section of trail. The pace will be leisurely allowing time to enjoy the gorgeous views from the many summits,
rock outcrops and overlooks along the way. There's options for side trips to a waterfall or two as well. Expect spring conditions with spring flowers and leaves
emerging, warm days, cool nights, dry trails, and hopefully, sunshine and blue skies! This trip is best suited for those with some backpacking and camping
experience. Daily treks will range between 6.5 to 9.5 miles. One should be in good physical condition to enjoy the journey. Space is limited to 4 people. There
are two spaces left. Reservations are necessary by March 26, 2017. Thank you. The tentative plan is to meet up Sun. afternoon (4/16) to pack. We will be shuttled
to the starting point after breakfast on Monday (4/17). We expect to come off the trail Friday afternoon (4/21). Lodging for Sunday and Friday nights optional.
